The Bumpy Road… features songs from  well-known composers, videos, slides and  original scenes about the bumpy journey through pregnancy written by Sarah Gauthier and Allison Brandon…and the show had to cancel, but is on this list because Sarah had a baby instead of a cabaret show!!! Premature, but healthy at 5 lbs, 1 oz, it’s Imogen Rose Gauthier!!! February, 2014

SECOND ANNUAL MID CITY THEATRE CABARET MONTH

14 Cabaret shows, dozens of performers and a show for every taste.

What is Cabaret? Cabaret has its origins in 19th-century Paris where musicians and poets performed in a cozy,  casual atmosphere, even the word cabaret is derived from the French word meaning “wine cellar” to describe the small room where this form of entertainment was born…Today, cabaret is its own, identifiable art form, distinctive from musical theatre, nightclub singing, or a concert. The most essential elements of cabaret are simple: a performer in a small room at one with an attentive audience.

Cabaret Month featured Leslie Castay…unscripted…. A cabaret show in the classic sense of the word, starring a fabulous performer with here Musical Director, Jefferson Turner.  March, 2014

Bent… set in 1930’s Nazi Germany, is a play by Martin Sherman revolving around two men caught up in the depravities  of an all-controlling government gone mad. The play, though written at the end of the 70’s, rings true today for anyone who feels different from the “norm du jour” and yet it re-affirms the  ever-so-human notion that hope, friendship, comfort and even love can be found in the worst of circumstances…May, 2014

Tiger Tales!  A New Orleans Family’s Life in Football…New Orleans native, Ed Champagne, member of the Allstate BCS Sugarbowl Hall of Fame, played football with
Y.A. Tittle, Woody Strode, Steve Van Buren, Glen Davis, Bob Waterfield, Norm Van Brocklin and many more gridiron legends as an All-American at LSU in the 30’s and NFL player with the L.A. Rams in the 40’s. Presented by Chris Champagne. May/June, 2014

Reefer Madness  – the Musical…Book and Lyrics by Kevin Murphy…Book and Music by Dan Studney

This raucous musical comedy inspired by the original 1936 cult film, takes a tongue-in-cheek look at clean-cut kids falling prey to marijuana. The addictive and clever musical numbers range from big Broadway-style showstoppers to swing tunes was produced by Ampersand Productions. June, 2014

God Hates Cupcakes by Kyle Woods…A Concert Read of an original play. On the day of the St. Vincent’s Orphanage annual bake sale, a new product has been baked that could change the course of history, but when a local Church group arrives on the scene, who knows what God’s plan will bring. Catch 23 with Cameron-Mitchell Ware. The  show  uses music and monologue/character pieces to give audiences an idea of what life is really like for me (and my peers) as young artists turning everywhere for constant inspiration in the middle of a very unpredictable, yet thrilling journey. Grenadine McGunkle’s Double-Wide Christmas! It’s Christmas Eve, and despite  fears of terrorists and biological agents, things are pretty darned quiet around the Everlastin’ Arms Motor Park. Then Running With Scissors makes a mad dash for musical merriment with a cast of cut-ups, including Dorian Rush, Brooklyn Shaffer, Ashley Ricord Santos, Lisa Picone Love, Bob Edes Jr., Jack Long, and Kyle Daigrepont. – December, 2014
